2ND ANNUAL VALENTINE SWEETHEART

WINE & DINE SOCIAL

February 11, 2017

Held at the Marriott Spring Hill Suites in Atascadero

This was a fun event with a lot of good food, super raffle prizes, and auctions to raise funds to support the MCL680 Scholarship Program

Our covers are off to the host of people that worked hard and long to make this a memorial get-together and to our emcee Tim Haley who kept everyone entertained.

"Success! I love it when a plan comes together! Thank you all who helped make last night's event a total success! And thank you all who attended. It was a very joyous atmosphere, everyone enjoyed themselves. It was great to see new faces and old regulars with spouses and guests. I've heard nothing but positive and grateful comments."  Commandant Jesse

Special Friday late afternoon meeting at the new Marriott Spring Hill Hotel in Atascadero. Some super food was provided with a combat gear display set up and Detachment T-shirts for all the members.

The State of the Detachment was recapped by Tim Haley and he went through all of the events/activities supported by the Detachment. Capt David Brandmeyer (President of the local MOAA chapter) previewed the PAWS FOR A CAUSE, K9's for Veterans program with an intended joint meeting of MCL680, MOAA, and MOWW next month with a live presentation of the program.

Some Valentine Day entertainment was provided during chow courtesy of the SLO Barbershop Quartet.

The highlight was an excellent presentation by Cpl Tim Haley on his personal experience with the Siege of Khe Sanh in Vietnam in 1968. This was one of the Marine's most fierce encounters with the North Vietnamese Army with many American casualities as they held their ground. The photos shown were taken my Tim and fellow Marines at the time. Powerful!

Nice accomodations
